In Oregon, Dan Steele Eaton was coached by a former track and field athlete. Steele improved Eaton’s 1500 m, hurdles, high jump and pole vault. He improved his pole vault by 1.2 meters in a year and scored 8,000 points in his college sixth pentathlon. After Steele left for Northern Iowa in 2010, Eaton was coached by pentathlon coach Harry Marra.
