Actor Bill Murray was fired again, this time over new allegations of workplace misconduct. Several celebrities, including Geena Davis, Seth Green and Rob Schneider, have recently spoken out against the Ghostbusters actor. Green recalls an incident that happened to Murray when he was 9 years old during an appearance on the YouTube show Good Mythical Morning. Green described an event on the set of a Christmas holiday-themed episode hosted by Murray:
“[Murray] see me sitting on the arm of this chair and make a big deal about me taking his place.” ‘That’s ridiculous,’ I thought. I am sitting on the arm of the couch. This bench is available in different lengths. Get out of here, please.’ And he said, “That’s my chair.”
Green’s mother asked her son to get out of Murray’s chair, but the former refused. Murray allegedly held Green “upside down” and threw him in the trash shortly after the verbal argument:
“He grabbed my ankles and lifted me up. I was upside down… He hung me up on the trash can and said, ‘Garbage put in the trash.’”
Seth Green continued:
“And I screamed, and I swung my arms, flailing wildly, in full contact with his b*ll.” He threw me in the trash, and the trash was emptied. I was socked. I hurried away, huddled under the vanity and screamed.
The new allegation comes after production on Bill Murray’s next film Being Mortal was allegedly suspended due to complaints of “inappropriate conduct” directed at the actor.
Charges against Bill Murray
Following complaints about Seth Green’s new inappropriate behavior towards Bill Murray, several celebrities have made similar claims. In her book Dying of Politeness, actress Geena Davis discussed her experience working with Murray on the 1990 film Quick Change. According to The New York Times, Davis said Murray yelled at her for being late when she arrived. waiting to change clothes:
“It’s terrible. The way he acted in the first encounter… I should have walked away or defended myself vehemently, in which case I wouldn’t have gotten the role.”
She continued to say:
“If I had understood how to answer or what to do at the audition, I could have avoided such treatment.” But, you know, I was too indifferent to simply not do that.”
Davis also stated in her bio that Murray insisted that she use the “massage machine” against her will:
“I told him not many times, but he didn’t listen. To get him to stop trying to force me to do it, I had to scream at him and create an uproar; The others in the room did nothing to stop it.
Davis expressed guilt over blaming his younger self for an event caused by Murray:
“It makes no sense to regret anything, but here I am.” And, absolutely, it’s not my fault.”
Similarly, actor Rob Schneider said that when Bill Murray was the host of Saturday Night Live on NBC, he “completely despised” the cast. Schneider railed against Murray on SiriusXM’s The Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show, saying:
“I won’t name the director, but ‘Bill Murray is coming, and he’s going to change the language.’” He’ll change things for the better, but you never know who you’ll host. Which Bill Murray will you get? Bill Murray, nice guy? Or will you meet the harsh Bill Murray?’”
He also said that while Murray was polite to fans, he was not good with his co-stars:
“He is very good to the fans.” He wasn’t very polite to us… When he hosted Saturday Night Live, he looked down on us. They look down on us completely. I mean, raging.”
Schneider also said that Bill Murray despised the late Chris Farley:
“He looks down on Chris Farley with an attitude of revenge. Looking at him, he seemed angry. I’m not sure why, but I like to think it’s because Chris feels great about being Belushi who [was] his friend died, that he thought it was cool to lose control.
However, the comic explains that Murray’s hatred for Farley can be attributed to his own interpretation:
“That’s my interpretation, but I’m not sure.” I do not think so. “I only believe 50% of the time.”
Murray, according to Schneider, belittles Adam Sandler:
“He just wasn’t in the mood for that, you know?” And Sandler was really devoted to it, and you could watch the crowd gobble him up as soon as he got on the pitch.”
In addition to Schneider’s accusations, SNL producer Lorne Michaels recently revealed details regarding the dispute between Bill Murray and Chevy Chase during the show’s season. Michaels said on the Fly on the Wall podcast with Dana Carvey and David Spade:
“They quarrel. And John [Belushi] spark it up a bit. It’s partly my fault that I brought Chevy back as host after he’d been gone for a season and a half, but it simply makes sense. They fought in front of the table and Chevy was forced to have a monologue.
Anjelica Huston told Vulture a few years ago that Bill Murray abused her while they were filming Life Aquatic: Evolution.
“In Life Aquatic, he was an asshole to me. The first week I was there, we were all in this little hotel, and he invited everyone but me to dinner.”
She continued:
“People come down to dinner, a little upset about my absence, and they all say, ‘Oh, you know, we really don’t want to leave.’” That’s the worst. “
Despite their previous relationship, Huston realized Murray would attend her husband’s burial later when he grew up. Bill Murray also made headlines in 2000 for his infamous on-set brawl with his Charlie’s Angels co-star Lucy Liu. Last year, Liu stated to the Los Angeles Times podcast Asian Enough that Murray insulted her by performing a scene that had to be remade:
“While we were shooting that scene, Bill started saying obscene things, and I won’t go into the details, but it just kept going.” ‘Well, he seems to be looking right at me,’ I thought. I can not believe it [the remarks] were all aimed at me, because I had nothing to do with anything important at the time?
Liu said some of Murray’s rhetoric was “unforgivable and disrespectful,” but she doesn’t regret speaking up for herself at the moment.
Twitter Responds to Bill Murray’s New Statements
Despite being one of the most recognized performers in Hollywood, Bill Murray has had a number of issues regarding inappropriate behavior on set. Claims of misconduct against Murray initially surfaced when actresses like Lucy Liu and Anjelica Huston spoke out against him. Several other celebrities have recently spoken out about similar allegations.
Following the new allegations, some social media users turned to Twitter to criticize Murray’s behaviour:

Although Murray has not responded to the latest allegations, he did address allegations of misconduct by the Being Mortal production team in April. According to the actor, CNBC:
“I did something that I thought was hilarious, but it wasn’t so well received.” The corporation, the studio wanted to do the right thing so they paused production to check everything and investigate. But for now, we are talking and trying to make peace.”
As emotions on the internet continue to run rampant, it’s unclear whether Bill Murray will address the new charges against him in the coming days.
