Brawlhalla
Brawlhalla, developed by Blue Mammoth Games, is a popular free-to-play fighting game that offers an immersive gameplay experience. Originally released in 2017 for macOS, PlayStation 4, and Windows, the game has since expanded its reach to include ports for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Android, and iOS, enabling players to engage in cross-play across all platforms.
The game made its debut at PAX East in April 2014 and entered its alpha phase shortly after. In November 2014, an open beta became available, paving the way for the full release of the game in October 2017. At launch, Brawlhalla featured an impressive roster of 34 characters, known as “Legends,” each with their own distinct stats, loadouts, and a variety of cosmetic skins to choose from. Over time, the character roster has expanded, and as of April 2023, there are 59 playable Legends to select from.
In a significant development, on March 5, 2018, Ubisoft, a prominent video game publisher, acquired Blue Mammoth Games, taking over publishing responsibilities for Brawlhalla. This partnership led to the introduction of iconic characters from the Rayman franchise into the game on November 6, 2018.
Brawlhalla’s availability also expanded with releases on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on the same day. Further adding to its crossover appeal, on July 27, 2022, Ezio from Assassin’s Creed became the second playable character from another franchise to join the game.

Graduated Test Feature:
_Downward Aerial Attack Consistency is graduating into all queues!
This feature makes it easier to perform a downward attack without being platform canceled by a soft platform. Down Light or Down Signature attacks will ignore platform canceling when the down input is held for 4 or more frames.
This prevents accidental platform cancels when a fastfall Down-Air or Ground-Pound was intended._
Balance:
This patch contains Red Raptor’s first round of adjustments, which makes him legal for use in official tournaments beginning with the 2023 Summer Championship. Other general balance is locked for the upcoming Summer Championship.
Red Raptor
- We have increased the Recover time on Red Raptor’s Neutral Orb for greater risk to better match its significant threat coverage. Red Raptor’s Side Orb now has greater Time to Hit, a slower maximum travel speed, less travel speed during its Recover time, and greater Recover time, allowing for more opportunity to dodge and punish this highly mobile signature. We have also reduced the Force for less reward to better match the high utility of this Signature.
- Red Raptor Neutral Orb: Increased Recover time from 20 to 23.
- Red Raptor Side Orb: Increased Time to Hit from 17 to 19; Decreased Force from 55 Fixed/50 Variable to 55 Fixed/48 Variable; Increased Recover time from 28 to 29; Decreased Maximum travel speed; Slightly decreased travel speed after the dismount.
Bug Fixes:
Art & Animation
- Fixed a visual bug where some animated Weapons didn’t play their entire animation while falling in the air or coming in contact with the ground.
- Fixed a bug in the Image Render Tool where Weapon Skins looked blurry.
User Interface:
- Fixed a bug where it said “Unknown Game Mode” when mousing over different regions.
Game Improvements:
Art & Animation
- The Blasters attachment in Isaiah’s Blasters Neutral & Side Signature attacks now color swap.

Brawlhalla Gameplay
Brawlhalla offers an exciting gameplay experience with various modes and mechanics. The primary objective in most game modes is to knock opponents into blast zones, similar to Super Smash Bros, either by attacking them or preventing their return to the stage.
Damage is indicated by the color display around a player’s character icon, darkening as they sustain hits. Entering a blast zone results in losing stock and respawning on stage. The last player with at least one stock or the one with the most points emerges victorious.
The game supports both local and online play, with competitive players engaging in 1-on-1 matches to climb the rankings. Duos can compete against other pairs to increase their collaborative rank. Brawlhalla also offers casual modes like Free-For-All, 1v1 Strikeout, and Experimental 1v1. Custom games support up to 8 players and allow for region-changing and experimental maps. Players can join clans on PC, gaining experience as a group.
Brawlhalla features simple controls and one-button special moves, making it accessible to new players. Controls include movement keys, attack buttons, weapon pickup/throwing, and dodging. Players can run, jump, perform dashes, and utilize dodges. Various movement options are available in the air, including multiple jumps, air dodges, gravity-cancels, and fast-falling. Players can also cling to stage sides, similar to Mega Man X.
During matches, gadgets and weapon drops appear randomly, which players can pick up. Each character can use two weapons out of 13 available, each with its own unique playstyle. Weapons include blasters, katars, rocket lances, swords, spears, cannons, axes, gauntlets, hammers, bows, scythes, orbs, greatswords, and battle boots. Different weapons excel at different ranges and possess varying characteristics. Characters also have unarmed attacks and can use gadgets like bombs, mines, and spike balls.
Each character has four assigned stats: Strength, Dexterity, Defense, and Speed, rated up to 10. These stats determine a character’s strengths and weaknesses and can be slightly modified using stances. Characters also possess three special or “signature” moves per weapon, offering unique playstyles and strategies.
