Marva Hicks, the famous R&B singer and actress passed away on September 16 at the age of 47. Her cause of death has not been determined and it is not clear if she had any health problems. Her husband, Akwasi Taha, and her family informed Ebony magazine that:

Marva Hicks was born in Petersburg, but her exact date of birth is uncertain. She became famous for her work on television, including roles in One Life to Live, Sister, Sister, and Star Trek: Travel. She played Roberta Williams in both the 1999 film Asunder and the 2013 film Labor Day. In addition to her television and film roles, she is most recognized for her plays on Broadway and off-stage. Among her memorable appearances are Motown the Musical, Caroline or Change, Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music, and others.
She has received the Helen Hayes Award three times and has toured with musicians such as Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, James Ingram and Sheryl Crow. In 1991, her song Never Been In Love Before reached number seven on the R&B chart. The song appeared on her self-titled first album, published the same year.
