Cake is a rock band from Sacramento, California. They have five members: John McCrea, who sings; Vince DiFiore, trumpet player; Xan McCurdy, guitarist; Daniel McCallum, bassist; and Todd Roper, who plays drums. Their song “Rock ‘n’ Roll Lifestyle” became popular, peaking at number 35 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and appearing on MTV’s 120 Minutes. After several changes in the band’s lineup, they released their second album, “Fashion Nugget” in 1996, which achieved major success with the hit single “The Distance”.
