Clutch is an American rock band from Maryland formed in 1991. The band’s original members were Dan Maines (bass), Jean-Paul Gaster (drums), Tim Sult (lead guitar), and Roger Smalls (sing). Neil Fallon later replaced Smalls and took on additional roles. Known by their one-syllable name inspired by their love of cars, Clutch has released 13 studio albums since 1993.
They faced challenges early on, including a label change, but gained attention through constant touring.
Their breakthrough came with their self-titled album in 1995, but a label change dropped them. Despite the setbacks, Clutch achieved commercial success from 2004 to 2011, with hits such as “The Mob Goes Wild”. They continued to grow, releasing albums such as “Earth Rocker” in 2013 and “Book of Bad Decisions” in 2018. In 2022, they released their thirteenth album, “Sunrise on Slaughter Beach”.
