Douglas McGrath Passed Away At The Age Of 64

Douglas McGrath, a renowned screenwriter, film director and actor, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the age of 64. Everything’s Fine producers Daryl Roth, Tom Werner and John Lithgow announced the news. They said:

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Douglas McGrath.” Everything’s Fine Productions was delighted to present his personal autobiography. Jane and his family have our sincere sympathies. “Maybe the memory of his life is a gift.”

He was doing Everything’s Fine, an Off-Broadway solo play, at the time of his death. The show’s final performance took place on November 2 and runs until January 22, 2022. The cause of his death has yet to be revealed and no funeral has been arranged.

Douglas McGrath was born on February 2, 1958, to R. Searle McGrath and Beatrice McGrath. His father was an independent oil producer based in Midland, Texas. The actor attended Midland’s Trinity School, Choate School, and Princeton University. After graduating, he joined the board of directors of the Princeton Triangle Club. Douglas began his career as a writer for Saturday Night Live from 1980 to 1981, and he is best known for his stage productions Checkers, The Age of Innocence, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical , and other books.
