She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from University College in Thiruvananthapuram after attending Pathanamthitta’s Town School and Catholicate High School. Fathima Beevi earned a B.L. from the Government Law College in Thiruvananthapuram. She was appointed Governor of Tamil Nadu on January 25, 1997. Shankar Dayal Sharma, then-President of India, appointed her as Governor of Tamil Nadu and Justice Sukhdev Singh Kang, former Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, as Governor of Kerala, stating that “their experience of and insights into the workings of the Constitution and the laws comprise valuable assets.”
