Gus Malzahn attended Fort Smith Christian High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The Golden Hurricane finished second in the country in scoring, trailing only Oklahoma, with over 47 points per game.


Furthermore, Tulsa finished with the second highest scoring offense in major college football history and ranked second in the country in scoring that year. The offense was the most balanced in the country, ranking fifth in rushing and ninth in passing.
