How to Get the Masamune in Final Fantasy 16

To obtain the Masamune in Final Fantasy 16, players need to venture into The Kingdom of Waloed. As part of the main quest “Footfalls in Ash,” players will gain access to this kingdom. While progressing through The Angry Gap to reach Eistla, players can deviate from the main path to acquire the Masamune. To begin the journey, players must start from The Shadow Coast and proceed by following the wall on the right side of Clive until they reach a westward-leading hill.

Upon reaching the top of the hill, a small gap in the wall on the left can be found. Passing through this gap leads to a hidden area where players will discover The Hand of Rhea Chronolith and a treasure chest. Interacting with the Chronolith unlocks the Trial by Ice, a challenge that relies on the powers of Shiva. Opening the chest rewards players with the iconic Masamune sword.

Steps to get the Masamune in Final Fantasy 16:

  • Progress in the main quest “Footfalls in Ash” until you reach The Kingdom of Waloed.
  • While heading towards Eistla through The Angry Gap, you can deviate from the main path to find the Masamune.
  • Start from The Shadow Coast and follow the wall on Clive’s right.

Masamune in Final Fantasy 16

The Masamune is one of the most iconic weapons in the Final Fantasy series, and it appears in Final Fantasy 16 as well. This legendary sword offers impressive stats, providing Clive with 310 Attack and 310 Stagger. Its power makes it one of the best swords available during the late stages of the game. However, if players have already acquired the Ragnarok sword before reaching The Kingdom of Waloed, the Masamune might not be necessary, as the Ragnarok is slightly more powerful.

It’s worth noting that the Masamune cannot be Reinforced, meaning its base stats are permanent. To further enhance its power, players can equip Clive with an Accessory that boosts his Attack, such as the Badge of Might or the Genji Gloves. Alternatively, players can aim to craft the Ragnarok and then the Gotterdammerung, which is the most potent weapon in the base game of Final Fantasy 16.

Final Fantasy 16 Gameplay

Final Fantasy 16 offers an action-based combat system, distinguishing itself from previous entries in the series. Players assume the role of Clive Rosfield, accompanied by a rotating party of AI-controlled companions. The game features segmented open environments, including dungeons, towns, and open fields that can be accessed through a fast travel menu.

Travel within these zones can be done on foot or by riding Chocobos. Clive’s hideout serves as a hub for interacting with non-playable characters, upgrading equipment, accepting side quests, and tracking relationships with different characters. Combat takes place in real-time, with Clive as the sole controllable character. Other party members are AI-controlled and possess their own attack and magic abilities.

Throughout battles, Clive can use normal attacks, dodge maneuvers, and unleash elemental abilities from Eikons, which are the game’s version of summoned monsters. Switching between different Eikon abilities allows for varied combo attacks. A crucial mechanic in combat is the “Stagger” system, where the party builds up a stagger meter to temporarily stun enemies, making them vulnerable to further attacks. During Clive’s adventures, he confronts formidable Eikons in battles and, upon their defeat, unlocks their distinctive powers and combat techniques, further enhancing his abilities.
