Is Anakin Dead in Ahsoka?

In the Ahsoka TV series, Anakin Skywalker is not entirely dead, but his status is somewhat complex due to a mysterious place called the World Between Worlds. This unique realm exists outside of regular time and space and allows Anakin to appear in a form that predates his transformation into Darth Vader in “Revenge of the Sith.” So, the Anakin we see in Ahsoka is from a time before he became the Sith Lord.

However, it’s crucial to clarify that the Anakin who became Darth Vader is indeed deceased, as he was electrocuted by Emperor Palpatine in the Star Wars storyline. While some might think that the Anakin we see in Ahsoka could be a Force Ghost, he doesn’t quite match the typical transparent appearance of Force Ghosts in the Star Wars universe.

His presence in the World Between Worlds suggests there’s more to his role in the story, making it unclear whether he’s just a Force Ghost or something else entirely. So, to sum it up, in Ahsoka, Anakin Skywalker is not alive in the traditional sense, but he exists in a unique state within the World Between Worlds, which adds an element of mystery to his character’s fate.

What Happened to Anakin in Ahsoka?

In the series, after a high-stakes lightsaber duel with Baylan Skoll, Ahsoka Tano seemingly falls to her death and awakens in a mystical, illuminated plane suspended in space. To everyone’s surprise, she encounters her former Jedi Master, Anakin Skywalker, who looks notably younger thanks to CGI de-aging.

This meeting takes place in what seems to be the World Between Worlds, a dimension within the Force that transcends time and space, previously explored in the Star Wars Rebels animated series. Anakin’s presence here is unexpected because, at this point in the Star Wars timeline, he should either be Darth Vader or a Force ghost.

Their reunion raises questions about how Ahsoka and Anakin’s relationship will evolve and what role they will play in the series. Ahsoka and Anakin have a rich history, starting with her apprenticeship to him during the Clone Wars. However, she left the Jedi Order, and Anakin eventually turned to the Dark Side, becoming Darth Vader.

Anakin’s presence in this mystical realm adds complexity to the story, as it suggests a spiritual or transcendent dimension that challenges our expectations. The nature of their interaction and how it will impact the series’ plot is a central mystery that fans eagerly await answers to in future episodes of Ahsoka.

Is Anakin CGI in Ahsoka?

Yes, in the Ahsoka TV series, Anakin Skywalker is portrayed using CGI (computer-generated imagery). This CGI treatment is used to digitally de-age the character, making him appear as a younger version of himself. This choice to use CGI for Anakin’s appearance in the series is significant because it deviates from the traditional portrayal of Anakin as Darth Vader or as a transparent Force ghost, as seen in the Star Wars franchise.

Anakin’s CGI appearance in Ahsoka is a central plot point, as it raises questions about his state and the nature of the spiritual plane in which he appears. It’s a departure from the usual expectations of how Force-related characters are depicted in the Star Wars universe. His youthful and fully fleshed-out appearance suggests a unique role in the story, potentially tied to a spiritual afterlife or some other mysterious aspect of the Star Wars mythology.
