Is Coraline on Disney Plus?

Coraline is not available on Disney Plus for streaming. Disney Plus is a subscription-based streaming service owned by The Walt Disney Company. It primarily focuses on streaming content from Disney’s extensive catalog, including movies and TV shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

However, Coraline is not a Disney production; it was produced by Laika Entertainment and distributed by Focus Features. Therefore, it’s not part of the Disney-owned content library. Licensing agreements play a significant role in determining which movies and TV shows are available on streaming platforms. These agreements can be exclusive to specific platforms or limited by region.

While Disney Plus has a vast collection of content, it’s impossible for any single streaming platform to have every film or TV show available for streaming due to licensing restrictions and the wide variety of content produced by different studios. Disney Plus, for example, mainly focuses on Disney-owned content and selected properties from related franchises.

Coraline is not available on Disney Plus due to its ownership by Laika Entertainment and distribution by Focus Features, rather than being a Disney production. The availability of movies and TV shows on streaming platforms is influenced by licensing agreements and the ownership of the content.

Coraline Plot

Coraline Jones is adjusting to her new life at the Pink Palace apartments in Ashland, Oregon, after moving from Pontiac, Michigan. Her parents, caught up in their work, pay little attention to her. She encounters a black cat and Wyborne, nicknamed “Wybie,” the grandson of the landlady, who gives her a doll that resembles her.

Following the doll’s lead, Coraline discovers a small door with a bricked-up wall behind it. At night, a mouse guides her back to the door, which has now become a portal to the Other World—an alternate reality where her button-eyed parents dote on her with indulgent care.

Upon awakening, Coraline is back in her own world. Wybie tells her about his great aunt’s mysterious disappearance. As she interacts with other Pink Palace residents, including the eccentric Bobinsky and retired performers Ms. Spink and Ms. Forcible, Coraline learns about the dangers of the Other World.

Despite the warnings, Coraline returns to the Other World, where she finds a beautiful garden and an affable Other Father. Accompanied by the mute Other Wybie, she witnesses Bobinsky’s circus mice perform. The cat, who can traverse both worlds, accompanies Coraline during her visits.

As she watches Ms. Spink and Ms. Forcible perform, the Other Mother proposes that Coraline stay forever if she sews buttons over her eyes. Disturbed, Coraline attempts to escape but is ensnared by the Other Mother, who transforms into a spider-like creature and traps her.

In a dark room, three ghost children, including Wybie’s great aunt, reveal that the Beldam, or Other Mother, used ragdolls to spy on them and stole their souls after sewing button eyes on them. To free them, Coraline must locate the “eyes” of the ghost children.

With the help of Other Wybie, she agrees to help. The Beldam kidnaps Coraline’s real parents, leading her to propose a game: if she can find her parents and the ghost children’s “eyes,” the Beldam will release everyone; otherwise, Coraline will accept the Beldam’s offer.

Coraline’s search causes parts of the Other World to decay. The Beldam’s true form emerges, and the ghost of Wybie’s great aunt warns Coraline of the Beldam’s deception. Coraline tricks the Beldam into opening the door to the real world throws the cat at her and grabs a snow globe containing her captive parents. The Beldam transforms into a spider-like creature and tries to ensnare Coraline, but she escapes through the door, severing the Beldam’s hand.

Back in her world, Coraline reunites with her parents, who have no memory of the events. As they complete their work, they become more attentive to Coraline. However, the freed ghosts warn her that the Beldam is still a threat. When Coraline tries to dispose of the key to the small door, the Beldam’s severed hand attacks her, but Wybie destroys it with a rock. At the Pink Palace garden party, all the residents celebrate. Wybie brings his grandmother, allowing Coraline to reveal her sister’s fate.
