Delivery Man Plot
Delivery Man follows the story of David Wozniak, a deliveryman working for his family’s butcher shop, who finds himself in a series of unexpected and life-altering situations. His life takes a complicated turn when he’s pursued by menacing thugs to whom he owes a substantial debt of $80,000. On top of this, his girlfriend Emma, an NYPD officer, reveals that she’s pregnant with his child.
One day, David’s life becomes even more complicated when a lawyer representing a sperm bank informs him that he fathered a staggering 533 children through 693 sperm donations he made during his student years. Out of these children, 142 have united in a class action lawsuit to uncover the true identity of their biological father, known as Starbuck.
With the help of his friend and lawyer, Brett, David embarks on a journey to keep his identity a secret. He’s provided with profiles of the children involved in the lawsuit and decides to search for them. Along the way, he performs acts of kindness, including helping a struggling actor by covering for him at work and saving his own daughter’s life when she overdoses on drugs.
Despite his regrets about remaining anonymous, David chooses to keep his identity hidden to secure a $200,000 settlement from the sperm bank in a countersuit. However, he eventually decides to reveal himself as Starbucks, as he realizes the significance of his connection to the children.
This decision comes at a critical moment when Emma goes into premature labor. At the hospital, their baby is born, and David proposes to Emma, leading to a heartwarming gathering of many of his children who come to meet him. In the end, David maintains contact with several of his newfound offspring, illustrating the theme of family, connection, and the unexpected turns life can take.
