The book features the stories of all 16 survivors of a terrible event. On October 12, 1972, Flight 751 left Montevido, Uruguay with 45 people on board. This included 19 players from a rugby team called Old Christians Club and their friends and families.
Sadly, the pilot made a mistake and the plane began to descend too early. The plane crashed into a mountain and broke both wings. It landed far away in the Andes Mountains, at a very high altitude of 11,710 feet. The survivors remained inside the crippled plane and faced avalanches and freezing temperatures down to -35 degrees Celsius for 72 difficult days. Finally, they were rescued.
