Jagged Mind, Hulu’s new gay psychological thriller, is coming out just in time for Pride. Kelley Kali’s latest thriller will be available exclusively on Hulu on Thursday, June 15, at 12:00 a.m. ET. Hulu’s thriller, based on Kali’s short film First Date, tells the terrifying story of a woman trapped in a time loop after meeting a strange new lover.
Hulu has announced that following its international premiere at the Black American Film Festival in Miami Beach on June 14-18, the film will be released on Hulu’s streaming platform on June 15. The movie will then be available on Disney+ globally at a later date.
Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Shannon Woodward will star in Jagged Mind.
Jagged Mind follows Billie, who is suddenly surrounded by bizarre images and blackouts, and quickly finds herself trapped in a series of time loops. While she doesn’t know what happened to turn her life upside down, it’s possible that the time loop is tied to her mysterious new girlfriend, Alex.

“When Billie begins dating a mysterious new girlfriend, she experiences blackouts and strange visuals that make her feel like she’s reliving those same moments in her life.”
Billie is played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, while Alex, her new and mysterious girlfriend, is played by Shannon Woodward. Richardson-Sellers is a black British actress best known for her recurring role as Eva Sinclair on The CW’s The Originals and her appearance on ABC’s Of Kings and Prophets. She is also a regular on The CW Legends of Tomorrow superhero show. Shannon Woodward is an American actress best known for her roles as Sabrina Collins on Raising Hope on FOX and Elsie Hughes on Westworld on HBO.

Jagged Mind was created by 20th Digital Studio, with executive producers David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian and Jenna Cavelle. Daniela Ruiz produced it through her company Palabra Productions, with Kali and Congyu E as co-producers. The film is directed by Kelley Kali and based on a screenplay written by Allyson Morgan.

Hulu has released some early photos of the film, but they don’t reveal anything about the story. The images are largely close-ups of the main characters, Billie and Alex, with a menacing black light. The setting, with hints of crimson and purple, contributes to the macabre atmosphere of the psychological thriller. According to the teaser, the Hulu horror film looks appealing thanks to the two main characters’ stellar performances, as well as engaging storytelling and mature direction.
