Julie Dixon is the family’s unathletic younger sister. Julie, a graduate of San Francisco State University, worked as a lawyer in Los Angeles. After Maggie’s death, Julie and Jamie founded the Maggie Dixon Foundation, which organizes heart health fairs in Pittsburgh and Madison Square Garden. There is also the annual Maggie Dixon Classic, a one-day tournament featuring some of the best women’s teams in the country. The Maggie Dixon Courage Award and the Maggie Dixon Division 1 Rookie Coach of the Year Award are both named after her.
