Joyce, born August 6, 1959, rose to prominence with the 1987 single, Come Into My Life. In 1987 and 1988, it peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard R&B chart and number 10 on the UK Singles Chart. She went to college and studied music as well as several other instruments. She began her career in 1986 when she signed with the now defunct Sleeping Bag Records and released her debut song, (You Are My) All and All. At the time, the song was on the UK Singles Chart and US Dance Chart.

She and Jimmy Castor worked together to remake the movie Love Makes a Woman which was also well received by the public.
