Kenza Dali is from Algeria, where her parents were born but fled when war broke out. Yamina, Dali’s mother, is a cancer survivor, whose story Kenza presented in 2019. Dali asked his mother for permission to tell his story of survival. Not only did Yamina grant permission, but she also said she hopes this will encourage her followers who are going through a similar experience. Dali remembers her mother being very optimistic throughout the diagnosis process. “I will heal,” she would remark. This won’t kill me.” And Yamina was right. Her parents don’t use social media and neither does her older sister Sabrina. Dali has also never posted any Instagram photos related to her family.

Kenza Dali’s passion for soccer began at the age of five when she began attending soccer matches with her cousin. Dali played with the boys until the age of 15 when she was forced to switch to the girls’ team. Lyon, a French football club, expressed interest in her and accepted her into their junior system. She spent her senior year with Lyon before joining PSG, where she made her first appearance in the Champions League final. Despite losing in the final to Frankfurt, Kenza affirmed that playing in the CL final was her favorite moment with PSG. Kenza appeared in 89 matches for PSG, scoring 36 goals before joining West Ham United in England. When asked why she moved to England, Kenza said she wanted a higher level of challenge in her job.

Kenza played 32 appearances for West Ham, scoring 5 goals before joining Everton. She spent one season with Everton before joining Aston Villa last season. Kenza told Sky Sports that one of the reasons she joined Aston Villa was because of colleague Rachel Daly. They kept texting back and forth about whether they would join the English club or not. Both enjoyed great success at Aston Villa, who finished sixth last season. Daly even won the Women’s Super League Golden Boot after scoring 22 goals last season.
