King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is a rock band from Australia that started in Melbourne in 2010. The band has six members: Stu Mackenzie, Ambrose Kenny-Smith, Cook Craig, Joey Walker, Lucas Harwood, and Michael Cavanagh. They are known for making lots of music in different styles and putting on exciting live concerts.
At first, they made music that mixed surf music and garage rock. They released their music on their own label called Flightless. In the early 2010s, they made psychedelic and progressive rock albums. Later on, they tried many other types of music like jazz fusion and folk-inspired tunes.
In 2016, they got more famous with their album “Nonagon Infinity,” which won an award. They also promised to release five albums in one year, starting with “Flying Microtonal Banana” in 2017. Their music started to include heavy metal, synth-pop, and progressive rock, and they sang about the environment and a made-up world called the “Gizzverse.”
They work really hard and play lots of live shows, which got them recognized as some of the hardest-working musicians in the world. Their latest album, “PetroDragonic Apocalypse,” came out in 2023.
