Miss Honey, who had witnessed Miss Trunchbull’s oppression with her own eyes during her teenage years, developed pity for Matilda and began taking care of the young child. She was the only adult who recognized Matilda’s high IQ and encouraged her to study and pursue other intellectual interests. Miss Honey eventually adopted Matilda in the book, and in the 1996 picture Matilda, she becomes the Principal of Crunchem Hall Elementary School. Her father, Magnus, was a famous doctor, but her mother’s name is unknown.

Magnus needed someone to find Miss Honey when her mother died when she was two years old in 1969. Miss Trunchbull, her mother’s step-sister, invaded her life and turned it into a living nightmare. Trunchbull seems to have created a screen in front of Miss Honey’s father so that he would not know about the torment Miss Honey was subjected to. Miss Honey wanted to tell Magnus about it, but she was afraid of Miss Trunchbull.

Miss Trunchbull received Magnus’ wealth and property upon his death, leaving 5-year-old Miss Honey to fend for herself. Fortunately, she was able to flee the dictatorship and start living in a modest hut in the woods. Years later, she was hired as a teacher at Crunchem Hall.

Is Miss Honey a lesbian?

Some theories imply that Miss Honey’s character is a lesbian because she doesn’t have any men in her life and also because she lives in a hut in the woods, even though Dahl never speak out. Miss Honey is a lesbian icon for many 20-year-olds, according to Lashana Lynch, who played the role in Roald Dahl’s musical Matilda the Musical.
