Leslie Phillips, a famous actor, voice artist and novelist, died on November 7, 2022, at the age of 98. Phillips is most recognized for his role as the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter films.
Zara Carr, his wife, released a statement in which she said:
“I have lost a beautiful life partner, and the world has lost a truly remarkable artist.” He is definitely a national treasure. Everyone admires him. Wherever he went, he was surrounded. When we got married, he jokingly introduced me to the press as royalty, claiming I was the new Zara Phillips and related to the Queen.”
Phillips’ funeral plans are yet to be finalized and more information will be announced soon.
Cause of death of Leslie Phillips
Leslie Phillips passed away on Monday after a long illness. However, he was not hospitalized at the time of his death. According to his agent, Jonathan Lloyd, Phillips died quietly in his sleep. At the age of 90, he suffered two strokes within six months. When he had his first stroke at home in Maida Vale, his wife Zara sought medical help. Leslie stated in an interview with The Sunday Mirror at the time:
“I’m too young to leave.” “I have everything to live for.”
According to reports, Leslie turned blue-black after suffering another stroke. Zara is fully aware of Leslie’s health difficulties, especially his skin cancer, and fears delaying their honeymoon. In 2013, they got married at Christmas. When asked about delaying the honeymoon, Leslie told The Sunday Mirror at the time that he had surgery for a non-cancerous tumor on his face. He said he needed to delete it and went on to say:
“Thank God, it’s not cancer.” It simply looks bad right now, but I’m working on it. We’ve been to all the appointments, and the next one will be in a few weeks.”
