Matthew Derrick Williams, better known as Matt Williams, was born on November 28th, 1965 in Bishop, California, USA. He is 56 years old and of American nationality, according to his birth date.

Career

In terms of profession, Matt Williams has been awarded a baseball scholarship to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After playing college baseball, he was selected by the San Francisco Giants with the third pick in the first round of the 1986 professional baseball draft. He made his major league debut for the Giants in 1987, mostly at shortstop but also at third base. Furthermore, he alternated between shortstop and third base until the 1990 season. He then moved to third base for the Giants, where he led the National League in runs batted in with 122 and was named to the National League All-Star team.

Moreover, despite several leg injuries and lower back problems, he was an effective third baseman. He was also a powerful and dangerous hitter. Williams’ success at third base was due to his quick release, powerful arm, and excellent hands. His best season came in 1994, when the Major League Baseball season was nearly cut in half due to a season-ending strike by MLB players.

He led the National League with 43 home runs and 96 runs batted in (RBI) in just 110 games. Moreover, he was on pace to break Roger Maris’s single-season record of 61 home runs, which stood at the time, with 43 home runs in 115 games. He finished the season with 60.6 home runs.

After the 1996 season, he was part of a six-player trade to Cleveland. After divorcing his first wife Tracie, he requested and received a trade to Arizona. He joined the Arizona Diamondbacks in their inaugural season in 1998. Matt was later hired by the San Diego Padres and the Washington Nationals.
