Michael Dunlop’s Career in Racing

In 2007, Michael Dunlop debuted TT and placed 25th in Superbike TT. After his father’s death at the North West 200 earlier that year, he decided to take part in the 2008 events at the last minute. He finished 10th in the Senior TT with a lap time of 124.773 mph, making him the fastest Dunlop on the TT Course.

Dunlop joined his father and uncle in the record books when he won the Supersport TT event on a 600cc Yamaha. In 2008, Dunlop was the sole winner in the 250 cc class of the North West 200. His father died while training for the event. Dunlop competed in the Classic Superbike race at the Manx GP on Friday, August 31. At the 2012 Manx Grand Prix, he won the Classic Superbike event. This is his sixth Mountain Course championship and third Manx Grand Prix championship after winning the 2006 Newcomers MGP. Dunlop worked in the 600 Junior Race holes for a team during the two-week 2012 Manx GP.
