Randy Lemmon Passed Away At The Age Of 61

Randy Lemmon, a popular radio personality, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, aged 61, from complications of a stroke. KRIV broadcaster Chris Tritico posted an image on Facebook, describing Lemmon as a good person with a good heart. The message goes on to say,

“When Brian Clary and I were doing Hearsay, Randy’s show, GardenLine, followed us. Brian and I will storm the set in his final season and take over his show. Randy, no matter how hard he tried, couldn’t stop us. We had a wonderful time. “I will miss him…”

Steven Kay, Radio Producer & Traffic Reporter for KSEV AM 700 – The Voice of Texas, also paid tribute to Randy on Facebook, writing that he met Randy when he joined The GardenLine as a way as a producer in 2011. Randy, according to Steven, has always treated him well with dignity. He also said that they remained in touch when Steven left IHeartMedia Houston. Steven ends his post with,

“I wish I had done it more often. H-town radio lost its loud voice, and the world lost a good guy. My friend, rest in peace. While we all agree that this is too early, you just keep on running as always.

Randy is survived by his wife, Yvonne Lemmon, and their two children, Randal and Selena, as well as other relatives.

Randy Lemmon has also published four novels.

Lemmon graduated from Robert E. Lee High School on January 4, 1962, then attended Texas A&M University for a bachelor’s degree in journalism. During his time at the institute, he established an agricultural network with the College of Agriculture. Lemmon, who lived in Moses Hall at the time, graduated from the College of Agriculture with a Master of Science in Agriculture. He also became interested in Aggie football and Astros baseball. The late radio personality is famous for his sense of humor and his ability to cook.

Lemmon began his career as a television and radio producer for the Texas Farm Bureau before becoming the host of GardenLine on 740 KTRH. He has hosted the program for 27 years and presents strategies for dealing with different climate challenges. He loves to brag about his lawns, gardens, and outdoor living spaces. Lemmon also wrote four volumes on the fertilizer regime, the ten commandments on mulching, and other topics. He also shares his enthusiasm and knowledge with Bay Area residents through his company, Randy Lemmon Consulting.
