Sophia Nomvete Is Portrayed As A Disa In “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”

Sophia Nomvete will portray Princess Disa in the forthcoming Amazon Studios fantasy series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The series is a prequel to The Lord of the Rings film trilogy and The Hobbit, both of which are based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s works. The Rings of Power is a prequel to the film series that takes place a thousand years before the events of The Hobbit.

Disa is the princess of the Dwarven city of Khazad-dum. Who is Sophia Nomvete, also known as Disa in The Rings of Power?

According to an Amazon Studios news release, Nomvete is a theatrical performer born in the United Kingdom of African and Iranian descent. Her RSC stage credits include Dexter in Vice Versa, Miss Littlewood, and England People Very Nice (by Royal National Theatre). Nomvete also portrayed Sofia in the European debut of The Color Purple (by Menier Chocolate Factory), an adaptation of Alice Walker’s book of the same name. For the part, she was nominated for a WhatsOnStage Best Supporting Actress Award as well as Best Supporting Role in a Musical by The Evening Standard and Broadway World.
