She is currently the Regional Secretary of the Association of Nomadic Tribes of India. She appeared in many films as an activist. She is a member of the Bhagya Vimukt movement, which organizes a free educational tour for nomadic children. Sushma ran as an independent against BKP candidate for Parli Congress Constituency in 2009, however she did not win. On July 28, 2022, she finally joined Uddhav’s Shiv Sena. She is currently the deputy leader of Shive Sena.
