The anime series centers around a plot where the dark lord is mistakenly awakened after a thousand years, finding himself in the body of a young girl. Millennia before this incident, the dark lord, in his previous reign, had dominion over humanity.
A thousand years in the past, the world was in turmoil, with humanity teetering on the brink of extinction due to the threat posed by six dark lords. However, hope arose in the form of six heroes who wielded extraordinary powers. These heroes used their abilities to combat the dark lords, and one by one, the dark lords were defeated until only Leonis remained.
In the year 447 of the Holy Calendar, Leonis Death Magnus, also known as the Undead King, fell to the heroes, and his capital, Necrozoa, was conquered. Leonis sealed himself with a powerful barrier and a resurrection spell. Before enacting the spell, he declared that he would concede defeat on this occasion but would return after a thousand years to conquer humanity, as he believed this was his mission granted by the Goddess Of Rebellion.
Now, in the present era, after thousands of years have passed, a young girl named Riselia Ray inadvertently discovers the ancient ruins of Leonis’s mausoleum and accidentally releases the dark lord from his seal. Unfortunately for the dark lord, he awakens in the body of a human child. Mistaking him for a refugee, Riselia takes him under her care.
This marks the beginning of Leonis’s mission to uncover what went wrong during his long slumber. Trapped in the body of a young boy, he encounters Riselia, the girl responsible for his awakening. Riselia is dedicated to fighting against the Voids, dangerous creatures that have nearly decimated humanity.
Leonis enrolls in Excalibur Academy, an institution that trains students to combat these monstrous Voids. Adjusting to a classroom setting proves challenging for the former warrior, but he soon realizes that the conflicts within the school are just as formidable as the battles of his past.
Throughout his new journey, Leonis encounters fellow students with their unique talents. Together with Riselia, they uncover the mysteries behind the rise of the Voids. The first episode primarily focuses on the dark lord awakening in the body of a young boy, highlighting Leonis’s journey as he learns the significance of education and humanity in his new life.
