The Peripheral Season 1 Ending Explained, Release Date, Cast, Where to Watch and More

In The Peripheral Season 1, Cherise faces a tough decision to protect stolen data hidden in Flynne’s DNA, culminating in a potential timeline-altering choice.

The Peripheral Season 1 Ending Explained

In the ending of “The Peripheral” Season 1, Cherise, the leader of the Research Institute, learns that sensitive data stolen by Aelita West is hidden within Flynne Fisher’s DNA. This data reveals a secret neural implant capable of altering human behavior.

To protect the Institute’s secrets, Cherise believes she must trigger an event called the Jackpot in Flynne’s 2032 timeline. This would cause a silo explosion in Flynne’s hometown, destroying her physical body along with the data hidden behind her eye. Cherise sees this as the only way to keep the Institute’s secrets safe.

However, she hesitated to do this earlier because the 2032 timeline serves as a testing ground for anti-Jackpot measures. If she triggered the apocalypse prematurely, it would waste the Institute’s ongoing research in that timeline.

It’s only after learning the data is inside Flynne’s physical body that Cherise sees the Jackpot as the last resort to protect the Institute’s secrets from exposure.
