Tommie Lee, an American reality television actress, accused Paula Abdul of stealing her idea for her eyewear company, Kilt Frames, and promoting it as her own. On Wednesday, January 4, the 38-year-old celebrity expressed displeasure with Abdul’s new Signature Smart Audio Glasses, which were released the same day.

Lee responded in response to a screenshot of Jon Cohen’s tweet regarding Abdul’s glasses being “a fusion of fashion and technology”:

“I am so disappointed that you all have seen me in this field for so many years, creating these frames. You’ve seen firsthand the effort I’ve put into @kiltframes. It’s horrible that she [Paula Abdul] stole my whole concept, to the style and everything. This often happens to us; I can not believe it.”

Lee also explained the issue to her Instagram fans in a series of videos. Lee reveals in the video that she is working with a company called FameCast, to which she submits her model, design, and signature cat-eye style. The startup has devised a design in which users can communicate through their Bluetooth-enabled glasses.

However, she says the consortium sold the idea behind her back to Paula Abdul, who launched the eyewear brand under a new name. Lee added that she trademarked everything in her Kilt Frames and that some “uninformed individuals” were surprised to learn it was hers. She also called Paula Abdul a “real loser” on her Instagram story. As of this writing, Paula Abdul has not responded to Lee’s allegations regarding her start-up eyewear company.
