Will Shipley is a rising football running back. He was born on August 29, 2002 in North Carolina, USA. Shipley’s older brother James is also an athlete. Will was born in Weddington and attended NC State University before enrolling at Clemson University in South Carolina. After redshirting for many years, his parents, both NC State alumni, switched sides. Although he has converted many relatives to support the Tigers, he maintains that others remain fervent Wolfpack supporters.
Will Shipley started playing football at a young age and honed his talent at Weddington High School in North Carolina. Despite missing his senior year, he finished his high school career with 80 touchdowns, 84 receptions, and 4173 rushing yards. Shipley had 11 touchdowns and 16 catches for 739 yards in his first season with the Clemson Tigers.

Will Shipley’s parents: James and Tammy Shipley
Will Shipley, a Clemson Tigers running back, is the son of James and Tammy Shipley. His father was born and raised in North Carolina and holds a master’s degree in Sports Management from NC State University. He previously attended Catawba College. James Sr. was the football coach for his hometown team, the Weddington Titans, and watching him teach boys for Pop Warner inspired both of his sons. Will started playing soccer at the age of 4 with his older brother James Jr.
On the other hand, their mother, Tammy, an NC State graduate, was quite academically rigid and valued education above all else. Therefore, she always makes sure the boys complete their homework before going out to play games. Despite this, Tammy is still pleased with her children’s athletic abilities and enjoys watching them compete and play sports together.
Tammy was overjoyed when Will revealed his desire to become a professional athlete while still in high school. She had watched him improve so much as a player over the years that she believed he could do much better in athletics than he did at school. However, he chose to continue his education at Clemson University, where he was pursuing a business degree while still playing college football for the Tigers. His parents fully support their child and are satisfied with what he has achieved so far. Their biggest wish is for Will to win a national championship with Clemson and then play in the NFL after college.
His brother James is a Lacrosse player
Will Shipley’s older brother, James Jr., was a Penn Quaker lacrosse player. He attended Weddington High School and was on both the football and lacrosse teams. James also captained his high school lacrosse team, which won three state titles (in 2017, 2018 and 2019). His football prowess earned him various honors, including a two-time state football title (2016 and 2018) and Charlotte Football Player of the Year.
He came to Philadelphia after high school to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He was an honorable mention All-Ivy selection and Second Team All-Ivy while playing for Pennsylvania Athletics.
