Kelly Middaugh grew up in a family that loved sports. The sport of curling is in her blood as both her parents were highly successful in this sport. Her father, Wayne, has an incredible record as a three-time world champion, something no one has ever achieved, winning championships in three separate positions.

Her mother, Sherry Middaugh, also made her mark in the sport of curling. She has won five Ontario championships and one Saskatchewan title. Kelly, born August 2, 1999, in Victoria Harbor, Ontario, Canada, is currently the leader of Algonquin College’s Laurie St-Georges group. Her curling career began at age 10 when she reluctantly entered a Sunday youth curling tournament. Despite initial reservations, she stuck with it for three to four years.

Kelly went on to study at Wilfrid Laurier University and excelled at curling. He had great success representing the Golden Hawks, finishing sixth in the U Sports tournament and being named first-team All-Canadian. Kelly attended Wilfrid Laurier University and participated in two U Sports/Curling Canada University Curling Championships. In addition to curling, Kelly earned an undergraduate degree in Global Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University before enrolling at Algonquin College.

Kelly grew up in an athletic family. Kelly’s parents, Wayne and Sherry, are also hairdressers, and her younger sister, Emily, works as a hairdresser with the rest of the family. Her mother, Sherry Middaugh, is a hairdresser from Victoria Harbor, Ontario. She has achieved much success in curling. She has won five Ontario championships and one Saskatchewan title. Middaugh, a native of Saskatchewan, won the 1986 Saskatchewan Junior Women’s Championship and represented the province in the 1986 Canadian Junior Women’s Curling Championship, where she finished in fourth place with a 6-4 record. Currently, she is coaching Team Hollie Duncan.

In addition to curling hair, Middaugh is also a businesswoman who runs her own company 4M Home & Garden. She is married to fellow curler Wayne Middaugh, who has proudly won the Canadian Men’s Curling (Brier) championship in three separate positions: skip (1998), third (2012) and third two (1993). Robert Wayne Middaugh, born September 20, 1967 in Brampton, Ontario, currently lives with Sherry in Victoria Harbor, Ontario. He is the general manager of Port Carling Golf & Country Club and a PGA of Canada golf professional.

Kelly Middaugh’s younger sister, Emily Middaugh

Kelly’s younger sister, Emily, 20 years old and four years younger than Kelly, was excited to take up curling as was the family custom. She is a member of the Ontario U21 team, which recently won the Junior Curling Cup. During the break, she also finished second with Team Grace Cave in the Canadian Junior Cup, earning herself a curling trip to Switzerland.

Emily experimented with many different sports before deciding on curling. However, the friendly and welcoming attitude of the curling community eventually drew her in, making it impossible for her not to continue the family tradition.
