At Blinn, Hutchinson played two seasons of football. In his first season, he had 29 receptions for 543 yards and five touchdowns. In his second season, he had 29 receptions for 418 yards and two touchdowns.

After his two seasons at Blinn, Hutchinson transferred to Iowa State University.
