His passion for cooking did not stem from childhood. In fact, as a child, he was not allowed in the kitchen until it was time to eat. According to his website, chefabesanchez.com, he stated:

“I can’t claim to have grown up in the kitchen with my parents like other chefs.” My mother was usually in the kitchen, and I was always kicked out. I have to wait until picnic time. I am fortunate to have supervisors who allow me to do what I want. I was able to work with a variety of culinary genres and set up my own unique color palette.”

Abe succeeded in various jobs throughout his twenties, but he “lost focus on them”. However, he is adamant about reaching the top. He desperately wanted to “find something to do, it was the point of his career” at the age of 30.

People often tell him that his brisket and shrimp are the best they’ve ever eaten. Abe from Hell’s Kitchen then chose to attend a cooking school. The reality show contestant instantly fell in love with the profession and embarked on her adventure to make a splash in the culinary world. According to his website:

“In the cooking school and every kitchen I’ve worked in, I’ve been a Rock Star.” I set myself ten years to become an executive chef, but I exceeded my expectations and became one of two.”

Despite having ADHD and Dyslexia, he has never allowed his condition to affect his abilities. He “doesn’t read many books” because they “take too long to read”. He learned much of what he knew “by going to the kitchen.”

According to the Hell’s Kitchen contestant:

“I can make a million different sauces using a million different methods, but I don’t know what they’re called.” I’m often asked what I’m doing and I always answer, ‘I’m just working.’ I can build an entire restaurant menu based on that.”
