The Next Level Chef returns to Fox on Sunday, February 12 for a second season. The new season will feature 18 contenders split into teams of six competing for the $250,000 grand prize under the guidance of Gordon Ramsay, Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais. Alex Morizio, a 48-year-old home cook, is one of six members of the Nyesha Arrington team. He is the Regional Medical Director of the ICC Intensivist Group in Miami. His role, according to his LinkedIn page, is to “review and monitor critical care unit processes in underserved facilities.” He is also responsible for recruiting ICU doctors and fostering connections between caregivers. Alex is also responsible for his hospital quality measures, such as sepsis mortality and length of stay in the ICU.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Next Level Chef candidate Alex Morizio has started his own culinary video series on Instagram.
Alex Morizio was born in Brooklyn and currently lives in Miami. In 1993, he graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Alex then enrolled at the Ross University School of Medicine to pursue his doctor of medicine, from which he graduated in 2002. He then completed training at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he determined that she wanted to work in the intensive care unit. He said in an interview:
“I graduated from the residency program and fell in love with ICU medicine immediately, so I went on to do a three-year fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Maimonides.”
Morizio moved south in 2008 to become the Regional Medical Director of the ICC Expert Group. He was also interested in the financial side of the health industry, so he attended the University of Miami and earned an MBA in Health Policy and Management. Alex used to perform in comedy clubs in the Miami area before the pandemic, and when the clubs were closed due to the blockade, she decided to start a series of cooking videos on Instagram Live. In an interview, he stated:
“I still want to bring joy to people and be connected to them. So one night, on a whim, I turned on the camera and people started watching the cooking show.”
Cooking With Al premieres the first episode on April 22, 2020, and he posts new episodes every Tuesday on his Instagram account. He also hosts the Take a Sip podcast.

Next Level Chef airs on Fox on Sunday, February 12 at 10:30 p.m. ET, after the Super Bowl. The show will then return to its regular Thursday night time slot at 8 p.m. ET. After its televised debut, fans will be able to watch the competition live on Fox’s website.
