Survivor season 43 will begin on CBS on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 8 p.m. EST. It welcomes a host of new and extraordinary candidates, including Karla Cruz Godoy, a self-made woman from a lowly background. Survivor is one of the most popular reality series in the world. In it, 18 players compete in a difficult environment, only one survives as the “Single Survivor”. One of the many diligent candidates, Karla Cruz Godoy, argued that trying to survive in real life helped prepare her for the TV game. Karla said in a CBS clip:
“Growing up in poverty, you have to learn to support yourself and steal to get by. It is simply possible to look someone in the eye and lie to them.”
Karla Cruz Godoy, who comes from a completely different background than most of the Survivor participants this season, will be one of the most intriguing characters to watch. Continue reading to learn more about the game show participants.
Karla Cruz Godoy is Survivor 43’s rival.
Karla Cruz Godoy, 28, is an educational project manager based in San Diego. Karla had to struggle all her life because of her low-income family. She made everything she owns and firmly believes in changing things up if you don’t like them. Karla succeeded by changing her surroundings. But that’s not always the case with San Diegans. Karla’s parents are immigrants with only a high school diploma. This prompted Karla to apply for a variety of scholarships, which allowed her to continue her higher education. Karla told Parade about her childhood in an interview:
“I understand what it feels like to suffer. I understand what it’s like to be hungry. I know what it’s like to play with someone, whether it’s cheating on them or making them happy because that’s the life I’ve had to live since I was a kid. And I can only convert the code. Coming from San Diego teaches you to be tough. You learn to defend and advocate for yourself.
Karla seems to be the type of girl that will try her best to get anything she wants. In an interview with Parade.com, her motivation was clear. When asked why she wanted to join Survivor, she only replied that she was tired of watching it on TV. She continued:
“I am here on Survivor to win, obviously. But I’m sick of watching Survivor on television. Honestly, I’m sick of repeating, “Here’s what I would do differently. What if this individual did anything like that? I hope I can attend.” And I’ve always been the risk-taker type. If that’s what you want to do, go ahead and do it. So I gathered up my courage and said, “Let me apply.” And I did.”
Karla Cruz Godoy will compete in the Coco tribe (blue), with Baka (yellow) and Vesi (red).
