Hell’s Kitchen is back for another hot season, and this time it’s the Battle of the Ages. Season 21 participants will be sorted into groups depending on their age. Gordon Ramsay, the celebrity chef, will return as a show judge and see who endures the hell and wins in this reality show. O’Shay Lolley, a chef who used to prepare for US President Biden, was one of the finalists of the FOX show. The show will premiere on FOX on September 29 at 8 p.m. ET.
O’Shay Lolley, a participant in Hell’s Kitchen, enjoys preparing Jamaican dishes.
The 42-year-old chef competing in Hell’s Kitchen has cooked for a number of celebrities, including Vice President Joe Biden. He talks about his culinary experience on the BOREDinDE Podcast. He used to play with leftovers as a child, often combining two meals to create something new. Later, Lolley enrolled at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Science. When asked about his schooling, he said:
“Culinary science gives you a lot of useless information.”
While the up-and-coming Hell’s Kitchen participant doesn’t have a favorite meal, he often cooks Jamaican dishes. When asked about going out to eat, he replied that even if he didn’t like the meal, he would. However, he says that his arrogance as a chef sometimes shows up. He went on to say that when restaurants found out he was a chef, they would try to offer him a free lunch.
He declared:
“I don’t want a free lunch, and as a restaurant, I don’t want to take anything from you.”
Chef Lolley believes in giving back to the community, and last year he taught cooking to children at the Reed Refugee Centre. In the classroom, the chef taught these children how to cook meals while taking precautions to avoid injury. He said he grew up with a gas burner, which can be dangerous if not handled properly. He hopes to educate the kids on how to survive and cook for themselves if their parents or guardians aren’t around.
More about Hell’s Kitchen season 21
The heat increased when Hell’s Kitchen split 18 participants into teams based on age. Will more experienced chefs have an advantage over less experienced chefs or will newcomers prevail?
The summary of the program is as follows:
“The competition is sure to get stiff as each team faces grueling culinary challenges with high stakes prizes and penalties, all with bragging rights regardless of age. Only those with the correct combination of elements can compete until one is crowned the winner. A final, life-changing prize, which includes the title of Chef, $250,000 in cash and the coveted title of HELL’S KITCHEN winner, is in danger of being ruined.”
