Kurt Angle makes WWE debut

But Kurt Angle’s first match was not seen by fans as a promising start. Although he made his wrestling debut before Tiger Ali Singh, his first fight was against Shawn Stasiak in 1999. In an episode of The Kurt Angle Show, he talked about his first fight in WWE,

“I was very worried. I’ve never done it before, and this is my first launch. I wrestled with Shawn, and I got used to Shawn because I started training with him. So we’ve had a couple of dark matches that we’ve done before. But this is very scary. This is my debut and I’m more concerned with making things right. The crazy thing is, during the game in progress, the fans chanted ‘bored’.

The referee came to me – Shawn strangled me – and [referee] say, ‘Listen, Vince wants you to beat Shawn, go out in the ring, get the microphone and say you don’t sing boring to an Olympic gold medalist. I’m here for you.’ I’m like damn.

I’ve never done this before and no one warned me first. This is a Vince improvisation. I pause for a second and the referee says you have to do it. I said, ‘What else does he want me to do?’ He had to repeat that again, and I was out and I did it. “The fans reacted and chanted ‘boring’ even louder. So we got the response we wanted. The match went well, it wasn’t great. We didn’t have much time, but I think the match went very smoothly. It’s decent.
