Bernard Shaw, the popular host of CNN, passed away yesterday at the age of 82. His family made the announcement on the morning of Thursday, September 8, 2022. CNN President and CEO Chris Licht paid tribute to Shaw, writing:
“Bernard Shaw, CNN’s beloved host and co-worker, passed away Friday at the age of 82.” Bernie was a CNN pioneer and our Washington anchor when we first started on June 1, 1980.”
According to Licht, Shaw was CNN’s top host for 20 years, covering the presidential elections as well as the First Gulf War live from Baghdad in 1991. He also pointed out that Shaw remains a close member of CNN, adding context to historical events. Shaw’s funeral will be attended by only family members and selected guests. The family has requested that payments be sent to the Bernard Shaw Scholarship Fund at the University of Chicago.

Bernard, born May 22, 1940, graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1968. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point as a China specialist. Notification Center.
