“In ‘The Jerrick Trap,’ Memory Rick’s wild journey inside Jerry’s memory is filled with humor and weirdness. He explores decades of memories, revealing a surprising twist in Rick and Morty’s lore.”
Rick and Morty Season 7
The seventh season of the American adult animated TV show, Rick and Morty, started on October 15, 2023. This season will have ten episodes. The show’s seventh season was planned even before the fourth season ended in May 2020.
Something important to note is that Justin Roiland, who used to provide voices for the show, isn’t part of this season. He was removed from the show in January 2023. However, he’s still mentioned as a co-creator and executive producer. Ian Cardoni and Harry Belden are the ones replacing him, and Tom Kenny got a more important role in the cast.
Rick and Morty Season 7 Episode 2 Ending Explained
At the end of “The Jerrick Trap,” Memory Rick finds himself stuck inside Jerry’s memory. He is trying to find a way to escape from Jerry’s mind. This part of the movie was a funny, weird standalone story. Memory Rick goes through decades of Jerry’s memories in search of something that could be helpful to leave from Jerry’s mind; he believes that all technology is powered by springs and cogs. This resulted in a dejected Memory Rick trying and failing to build something out of these springs and cogs, eventually taking his frustration out on Memory Gene.
The sequence was pretty silly, but it reveals something surprising about Rick and Morty’s lore. Since Memory Rick hadn’t been seen since he turned down Rick’s offer to become a real person at the end of Rick and Morty’s season 5 episode “Rickternal Friendshine of the Spotless Mort,” viewers might reasonably have wondered whether the character even existed anymore. His return showed that he was alive and well or, at least, as alive as a sentient memory can be. Even though this season made fun of one of the show’s most famous classic episodes, this proves that the new season has some reverence for its predecessors.

Rick and Morty Season 7 Episode 2 Plot
The episode begins with Jerry asking Rick for help with a “rake situation” because he thinks his rake has been stolen. Rick avoids helping him because he feels it’s beneath him. Jerry accuses Rick of wasting such a smart brain, and Rick is so insulted by the thought of Jerry being able to use Rick’s brain better that he switches their minds to see what his body can really do. But when Rick arises in Jerry’s body, he’s soon taken over by the horror of it that he takes his own life. Jerry, in Rick’s body, gets hurt by Rick’s many body gadgets and dies.
Morty gets into trouble with a mafia group for selling crystals on their turf. The boss decides to let him go because of Rick’s reputation. Meanwhile, Rick and Jerry, revealed that both of them have both of their minds in both of their bodies
The mafia boss calls them back, and Rick and Jerry argue about how to handle the call. They both need to find out how to work together to save Morty when they realize that they are in both of their bodies, they decide to kill aliens in a big shootout.
After the mission, Rick and Jerry start to bond even further as neither one continues to be Rick nor Jerry. The two bond even further as the better part of their personalities start to connect well. But finding out that they are happier this way without the real Rick and Jerry holding them back, the two decide to run off on their own without fixing their brains as they previously promised.
Morty, Beth, and Summer try to find Rick and Jerry, but the mafia boss captures them and calls Rick and Jerry for a ransom. Rick and Jerry start to reflect on everything that’s happened between them and they decide to go back and help their families.
It’s soon revealed that Jerry and Rick had another idea to fuse their most positive aspects the both of them into one mutant being named “Jerricky.” Jerricky has fighting skills and Rick’s body gadgets, even psychic powers. The mafia boss and the rest of the mafia die and it remains awkward for the rest of the family.
Claiming that Rick and Jerry have died as they once were, Jerricky prepares to leave. Before he does, Gene tells the truth and says he took Jerry’s rake as a way for them to stay in each other’s lives. When it doesn’t change Jerricky’s mind and they want to leave, Jerricky steps on a rake as Rick’s mind breaks through and says that a “Memory Rick” was stashed inside of Jerry’s mind knowing they would need to revert back to the end of it all.
Rick and Jerry return to fighting, learning nothing from the adventure they went on together, and it’s clear nothing has changed despite how close they were when their brains were one.
